Day 40

Hello Reader,

Dubuque, Iowa

Day 40 and I have decided this is my last Whole30 post for the January Whole30!

I have learned a lot. I learned when and why I eat and what draws me to certain types of food. I am in no way an expert at avoiding food in those situations but I do acknowledge it.

I learned more about what foods sit well and what foods don’t. I am still learning quantities of certain foods (dairy, gluten, sugar).

I learned how much food it really does take in a day to keep me going. I learned that the 3 o’ clock snack isn’t always because I am hungry.

I have learned how many emotional or social ques I count on from food. I truly rely on food for comfort in emotional times and I rely on food in social settings to bring everyone together.

To say that I have learned it all and have mastered my Food Freedom would be a lie. But I have learned a lot and plan on continuing to learn as best as I can. Welcome to your Food Freedom January Whole30’ers!

Day 39

Hello Reader,

Breckenridge, CO

So far reintroduction has been going well. I am currently eating as I would on the Whole30 again. I am going to try to reintroduce foods carefully and meticulously as times goes on. I have introduced the main food groups I wanted to touch on. But I want to maintain control and really listen to my body as I broaden my food pyramid again.

Day 37/ Day 38

Hello Reader,

Breckenridge, CO

Day 37 went really well considering we were on a ski vacation! I ate whatever I wanted and felt pretty good the entire time. If I am extremely active (like skiing all day long) then my body has an easier time digesting some of the harder foods. I would say it was a successful day of reintroduction!

Day 38 means back on the Whole30! Although I ate whatever I wanted to yesterday I know that my stomach needs a break now. Unfortunately I can’t pound down burgers quite like I used too. So today I am back on the Whole30 and I am feeling good!

The Ski Vacation Recap

Hello Reader,

Breckenridge, CO

Yesterday we had an amazing time skiing in Breckenridge with my parents! It was a bit windy but nothing bad enough to slow us down. We were on the slopes all day long!

Noah broke the land speed record at 39 miles per hour on skis. I am pretty sure that is a world record or something. Needless to say, my parents and I had a hard time keeping up with the speed demon!

We had a fantastic time and are ready to hit the slopes again! Okay, maybe after our muscles aren’t so sore and we have recovered from yesterday a little more… But we are still ready!

Day 35

Hello Reader,

Dubuque, Iowa

Today is day 35 and things are going good! Tonight I will be testing soy. I have no reservations with testing soy. I haven’t had issues with it in the past. I see no reason for me to start having issues now.

PS. Doesn’t that watermelon just look amazing!!! Summer fruit… YUM!

Day 34

Hello Reader,

Loveland, CO

I tested gluten yesterday and it seemed okay. I had a bit of tummy upset immediately after I ate the bread. I also had a bit of tummy upset this morning. I will have to try gluten again in smaller quantities to establish my baseline quantity. For now it is on to the next food group… Soy!

Day 33

Hello Reader,

Loveland, CO

Today I am going to give gluten a go! As I type this my husband is kneading some dough right now.

When reintroducing gluten it is critical to know what is going into your bread. Store bought bread can contain so many types of foods that when you introduce store bought bread you can’t be positive what is actually having an effect on you. So to minimize the amount of variation in the gluten I reintroduce I have my husband whip up some of his bread.

Also to be honest, his bread is WAY better than any store bought bread! So I keep telling him that it is crucial to my Whole30 success that he makes the bread!

Day 32

Hello Reader,

Estes Park, CO

Today I don’t have much to say on the Whole30 progress.

So enjoy this photo of our breakfast in bed after our wedding day! YUM!

Day 32

Hello Reader,

South Africa

Sometimes reintroduction feels like you are driving on the wrong side of the road!

It is stressful to reintroduce “bad foods” back into your diet. You are scared and worried that it will ruin all of the progress you have made. Here’s the thing, it wont! You are supposed to reintroduce and learn more about what works with your body and what doesn’t!

Today I think was a good day but I can’t be sure! I had a bit of tummy troubles but a number of things could have caused that tiny bit of trouble. To be sure about dairy I will do another round in the future!
